    Spring Cleanup!

We’re looking forward to a fun season and are currently seeking volunteers to help prepare for the pool opening. It's a great way to jump in and get your volunteer hours for the year done before you've even blinked. It's also essential to get the club in good shape for swim season.

Come lend a hand getting our gardens clean, weeded, lawns raked, clubhouse ready to go, painting completed, garden clean-out, deck clean up, trim the hedges, shed cleaning, sign installations and overall grounds cleanup.

Rain date is Sunday, May 11, 2025

The Canadian Swim Patrol program is the on-ramp to lifeguarding. Ability is the only prerequisite.

The Swim Patrol provides enriched training for those who are ready to go beyond learn-to-swim. Swim Patrol's three levels - Rookie, Ranger, and Star - continue to develop participants' swim strokes and provide the skill foundation that prepares them for success in the Society's Bronze medal awards.

Rookie Patrol (8-10 hr.): Swimmers continue stroke development with 50 m swims of front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke. Lifesaving Sport skills include a 25 m obstacle swim and 15 m object carry. First aid focuses on assessment of conscious victims, contacting EMS and treatment for bleeding. Fitness improves in 350 m workouts and 100 m timed swims.

Ranger Patrol (8-10 hr.): Swimmers develop better strokes over 75 m swims of each stroke. They tackle Lifesaving Sport skills in a lifesaving medley, timed object support and rescue with a buoyant aid. First aid focuses on assessment of unconscious victims, treatment of victims in shock and obstructed airway procedures. Skill drills develop a strong lifesaving foundation.

Star Patrol (8-10 hr.): Swimmers are challenged with 600 m workouts, 300 m timed swims and a 25 m object carry. Strokes are refined over 100 m swims. First aid focuses on treatment of bone or joint injuries and respiratory emergencies including asthma and allergic reactions. Lifesaving skills include defence methods, victim removals and rolling over and supporting a victim face up in shallow water.

    Class Length: 60 min.

    Dates: Tuesday night.

Give your child a head start on learning to swim. The Lifesaving Society Preschool Program develops an appreciation and healthy respect for the water before these kids get in too deep.

In our basic aquatic progressions we work to ensure 3 to 5-year olds become comfortable in the water and have fun acquiring and developing a foundation of water skills. We incorporate Lifesaving Society Water Smart® education in all Preschool levels.

This is a combined course that includes Preschool levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Participants will be taught according to age and ability.

    Review the Preschool content here.

    Class Length: 30 min.

Dates: Monday through Friday for 2 weeks.

      Details:

This fun neighbourhood triathlon encourages children to get out and move this summer. This race is designed to motivate kids to get outside with swimming, biking and running. So get practicing, then put your skills to the challenge and compete with a crowd to cheer you on along your way to the finish line.

Each child will race against time and finish like a star with a medal and a recovery snack just like the pros. There will NOT be any awards for top places. Enjoy the fun of family friendly sports and fitness or challenge yourself to compete against the clock and get a personal best time. If this is your first time in a triathlon then a personal best (PB) time is a GUARANTEE!!

The race will begin at Fairfields Swim Club and finish at Hillcrest Public School.

Click the Race Map to see the map and distance chart for each age group. Parents MUST accompany the 3 and 4 year olds throughout the course. Parents of the 5 year old MUST be present in the pool alongside their child and may choose to accompany them in the bike and run portion. Personal floatation devices are a MUST for those who have not passed their Fairfields deep end test.

There will be course marshals and volunteers throughout the course to help the kids along the way. Your child will not get lost.

Required to participate on race day:

      • A bike (or tricycle or balance bike, training wheels, etc)

      • Properly fitted bike helmet

      • Swimsuit (goggles, swim caps are optional)

      • Running shoes (don’t forget socks help avoid blisters for the longer distances)

      • Dry bottoms are optional but will help avoid chafing while on the bike seat (something easy and light to put on with your race shirt)

      •  **Don’t forget your Fairfields race shirt**
